cue the boats | annapolis maternity photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . I couldn’t have asked for a better evening to photograph these beautiful expectant parents!  Somehow, we dodged many nights of rain and managed to squeeze their session in on a spectacular day!  I love love love shooting at this time of the day/evening - the light is golden and gentle - add a nice breeze and it’s summertime perfection.  I’m glad we were able to get this session in when we did because their baby boy was born THREE days later!  Early bird!  I spent the morning with him today, and can’t wait to share more pictures of the entire family.

Could we have been more lucky with this back-drop?  Anyone remember “cue the deer” from Chevy Chase’s funny farm?  I digress…

What a happy couple…now TRIO!

wheeee! | annapolis photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . such a fun morning at the BEACH!  There are so many great things about Annapolis, and one in particular is that there is SO much variety in terms of locations for shooting.  “Can we do our photo session at the beach?” is a request that I get quite frequently, and one that I am happy to oblige.  I really enjoy shooting at the beach in the evening, when the light is so golden and pretty, but with toddlers that can be tough in the summer because sunset is often well past bedtime!  So, you can see that little miss below, knows just how to combat the sun…sassy glasses!  I REALLY enjoyed spending time with this family, and am sorry now that I didn’t opt to make the stop at Rita’s Italian Ice with them.  bummer!

(and can I just add that the first lady has nothing on THIS mom’s arms :-)

go Ravens | baltimore photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . I used to think I had the best job in the world . . . and still think back to all of the great trips, over so many years, with so many wonderful people.  Well, now I’m pretty sure that I DO have the best job in the world, and it’s the people that I spend my time with that make it so.  If you’re “new” to my blog, then you haven’t “met” the Murrays, but if you’ve been reading for a while, then you know how much they mean to me.  “Special,” doesn’t even being to describe this family, and I feel so fortunate to have come to know them and call them my friends.

When I told Aimee, earlier this year, that I wanted to do a family session this spring, I don’t think either of us, would have imagined where we’d end up!  I wanted to do something really special, unique, and most of all memorable, and I’m pretty sure that in the end, we covered all of those bases.  I can’t think of a better place to photograph their little champions.

My crazy brainstorm?….Ravens Stadium…and that is EXACTLY where we had their session.  Thanks to my friend John Cornell for making it happen (and to all of the other folks who offered to help as well - you’re all angels and I speak for myself and the Murrays in telling you how grateful we are for your generosity)  John gave us a great tour of the facility and running out onto the field was quite an experience! Here are a few images from our morning at M & T Bank Stadium!  Do you not love that hand-off at the 50?

Heather…you continue to amaze us with your talent for truly capturing the moment. The day we spent with you at Ravens stadium will forever live in our hearts as one of the best moments we have spent as a family together.

Battling a disgusting disease like MLD certainly ‘takes it out of’ us most days…we are so thankful to you for helping us to ‘forget’ for a few hours and only concentrate on our boys and our ‘other’ boys - the Ravens - very very fun.

    YOU ROCK and THANK YOU!

    Love, the Murray’s

legend.

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . I’ve spent most of the day at my desk listening to the King of Pop.   For those whose galleries I’m working on today, undoubtedly you’ll see a little Billie Jean, ABC, and Rock With You in your final images.  I wonder if this is how our parents felt when they heard the news about Elvis?

Regardless of your thoughts on his recent years, there is no denying that he gave us a LOT of great music.

just because . . . | maryland photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . Celebrate life.  Celebrate you.  Whether to mark an anniversary, a birthday, or for no reason at all, beautiful images of you and your loved ones  . . . just because.  While it’s true that most of the subjects I photograph tend to be on the tinier side, I do receive inquiries to photograph families of all ages.  Whether your daughter is 3, or 33, I know she’s still “your baby,” and celebrating your 50th birthday, or anniversary, should be just as exciting as your 5th (except maybe party hats are optional).  I’ve been trying to define sessions like these for some time, with the focus being on adults, rather than children, and finally, here it is.

Below are a few examples of some “just because” sessions that I’ve done over the past few months…the lovely trio of ladies that I recently featured on my blog are each celebrating a decade birthday this year.  I’ll never tell which one(s), and I can promise you, you’ll never guess ;-)

sweet baby girl | maryland newborn photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . All of this rain means that I have been spending way more time in the office than I am used to… I WANT TO SHOOT!  But, since I’m here at my desk, I may as well post a few images of this sweet girl for your viewing pleasure.  She did NOT want to sleep for us, but you can see in a matter of a few moments, I captured a few different faces of grace.  Can’t wait for her mom and dad to see the rest!

well, maybe just this once ;-) | st. michael’s photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . I was not struck by lightning, I haven’t seen a single flying pig, and it’s a good thing that I know to never say never, because yesterday . . . I shot a wedding.  Yes, a WEDDING!  And don’t tell anyone I said this, but it was really fun.  When this beautiful bride-to-be contacted me and asked if I would shoot her special day, I couldn’t say NO fast enough, because before I could get those two little letters out of my mouth, she was able to squeeze in all of the details that I needed to hear that left me tongue-tied and mumbling yes before I could come to my senses.

“A small affair.  The Inn at Perry Cabin.  A weekday. St. Michael’s. Vineyard Vines.  Outside on the water.”

If she had mentioned the starfish necklaces, I would have probably asked to be a bridesmaid LOL.  It was a beautiful day, even though we dodged thunderstorms and lightning, and watched it rain buckets precisely at the time the ceremony was supposed to begin.  Fortunately, storms on the eastern shore pass quickly, and moments later the sun came out, I rolled up my pantlegs and took off my shoes, and stood ankle deep in a puddle, documenting their “I do’s.”

I’m sure you’ll agree that theirs was a BEAUTIFUL wedding :)

Congrats to ALL of you and THANK YOU for letting me be a part of such a special occasion!

Where did these days go? | annapolis family photographer

annapolis_photographer1 %kids photographer . . . you know, the days where you could walk outside and not question whether you had stepped back into the shower…The days where you could put on really cute shoes and not find them, and your feet underwater while walking to your car…  Oh, and of course the days when your kids can play outside, rather that going bonkers inside. (I don’t need to mention the impact that the latter has on the Mommy).  You’ll see the kind of day I’m talking about in the images below.  It was a hot one, but I would still take a hot SUNNY day over all of this nonsense we’ve had recently.  This family braved the humidity and the heat for a fun session with their recently-turned-one little boy and we had a great time.  Do you not love that jig he’s dancing?  Seriously.  Can you look at that picture and NOT smile?  I didn’t think so. :-)

Those were the days…
