. . . Hi Everyone! It’s me Laura~
I am so very excited to add blogging to my role here at Heather Crowder Photography.
I think we are going to have a great time
I know for many of you all, this time of year marks the start of school. I loved this time of year growing up…the smell of fresh school supplies (that brand new box of crayons!)…every one looking great in their new “back to school” outfits..
the new backpack..and the butterflies and giddy feeling about starting a new year with a new teacher, and getting to meet new friends.
We get that giddy feeling every time we receive a client’s order from our lab.
There is just something so magical about seeing the images in print or on canvas and getting to hold them in your hands. We love the excitement of getting to see the next step in our client’s progression from the photo session to being elated with the images on their walls and in their homes.
Our ultimate goal is not just for Heather to take pictures of your family…although we LOVE that part of the process…and Heather is AMAZING behind that camera of hers. And we know that is why you are here..because she does it like no one else can!
Our ultimate goal is for you to be thrilled with those images and for us to help guide you in how those images will be best displayed in your home. We know that this is an investment of all sorts of resources, and with that in mind, we want to be sure that in 10 years, 20 years and on down the line, that every time you see those images of your family, you get that same giddy feeling you did when you first saw them in your home and take that amazing trip down Memory Lane.
Part of this guidance, if you will..is helping you get to know the various options we have for displaying your images. To help you start thinking about how you would like to see your family’s images in your home, possibly even before your session with Heather. I will be blogging about those products and display options.. so that you all can see exactly what a ” gallery wrapped canvas” is and how it might fit into your home decor.
I will also be sharing some of our past client’s homes and how they decided to display their images. I know, for me at least, that it is always nice to see the different ideas that are out there.. and then be able to adapt it to my own home and style.
So this is also an open call to our past clients…We’d love for you to share pictures of your pictures LOL, and I’m happy to do the photographing for you if you’d like!
Please send me an email at laura@heathercrowder.com
I hope that first day of school went so well and I look forward to seeing you all back here shortly ![]()

(and because photographs are really what you’re here to see – and not just listen to us chatter – here’s one of my recent favorites)

. . . here on the blog! As much as I love to sit down at the computer and put my thoughts out there into cyberspace, in many cases, time (or lack-thereof) gets the best of me. There are SO many things I want to share here, in addition to session images and other fun stuff, but alas, I just can’t always make that happen. My shooting schedule these days beyond crazy and we aren’t even full-swing into fall yet! Soooo…I am turning over the keys to the blog (or rather just making a duplicate set) to Laura, so that she can help keep things up to date, and introduce some new things to all of our readers in blogland. I know you will love her
I posted a photo of her a few weeks ago, taken back in the summer, but here’s another so all of our recent clients can put her smiling face with her voice. Oh, and because I am completely obsessed with our custom frame vendor, I had to incorporate that too

And one last thing . . . our fall newsletter is just about to go live! If you’re not a current subscriber, and want to be the first to receive information about promos, special events and other good stuff, be sure to subscribe below!

. . . that it’s a national holiday at our house today? I could tell something was up when there was an-ever-so-slightly-apparent bounce in my husband’s step this morning. He was awfully happy at 7 am, went outside and hung the Stars & Stripes on the front porch, smiled a lot, and I think maybe even whistled a little, or maybe that was a bluebird sitting on his shoulder? This is not. the. norm. at that hour of the day. Wracked my brain a little – it’s September 2? Yeah, but so. It’s Thursday? again, yeah, so. It’s sunny? plenty of that lately. And then…it hit me. And at the very moment he said “you know it’s a holiday today don’t you?” (and I KNOW he never guessed I’d remember, and in fact I didn’t until that very second) and in my best wife-of-the-year-for-remembering-voice I said “I do know it’s a holiday, and I know you can’t wait….the end of the day will be here before you know it!” (Ha, go me.)
There are some of you reading who have no idea what I’m talking about. But then, there are those of you who DO. The ones who learned a LONG time ago not to plan for anything important on a Saturday in the fall, because, well, if you do you’re likely goin’ it alone. The ones who have learned that when they hear a voice on the couch in the family room, that it’s likely not speaking to you, but instead is likely some form of color commentary (which sometimes involves colorful language). That’s right. Today is the start of college football season, and that, in this house, is a reason to be giddy.
This weekend’s Maryland vs. Navy match-up is a bit of a struggle – we cheer for both teams, and John has stood on the sidelines and been part of the locker room at both schools – but this weekend, I’m going with my Terps! I cheer the Mids all year long, but NOT this game. Ralph & James, I have no doubt you’ll have a great debut on Monday!
These 3 ladies will no doubt be cheering the loudest!

. . . . not to enter this contest! MY favorite Ellen Allen bag is of course the Eastport – it makes schlepping look so un-schleppy! I use mine for everything, and now that it’s unpacked from pool & beach, it will shift gears to tailgating! EAA is giving away one of these fabulous bags – stop over and ENTER!
