. . . last year I photographed Stephen Samaras and the staff at Zachary’s for their feature in In Store Magazine after they were named the Coolest Store in America. In Store has asked Stephen to be part of a super cool “lifestyle” advertising campaign and they asked me to shoot his images! We had a great time at City Dock, and this was one of my favorites.
. . . photographing my own can be really challenging, she usually runs in the other direction when she sees the camera in my hand. This time though, I wasn’t about to give in. We were out for a walk and I saw the way the sun hit her hair, the flowers gripped tightly in her little fingers, and I went running for “the big camera.” (Most of the photos that I take of her these days are with a point and shoot because I can be far more sneaky with it). She was so busy on the hunt for the perfect clover, that she didn’t notice me and I just started clicking. It wasn’t until I downloaded the images that I saw the maturity in her face and an over-all “grownupedness” that seems to have replaced the baby that she was… just yesterday? That pang of sadness about my girl getting big didn’t last long, because I then saw the hallmark of her (and my) childhood – the band-aid and the bruised little knees, and was quickly reassured that she’s still my little rough-and-tumble baby girl 
. . . I wish I could show every image from this session . . . what a beautiful couple with a sparkle that even outshines her new ring! Aside from my wedding day, and the day that my sweet girl was born, the day AFTER we got engaged was one of my most favorite days ever. There is just something so exciting and happy about the promise of what’s to come, the fun of planning the wedding, and really, the start of a “new” life with the person you love. It was easy to see that theirs will be a happy and loving life together – their ease with one another, the smiles, the laughing and all around schmoopyness will make it so!
Here are just a couple of hold over their parents who are apparently just as eager to see them as they are! I LOVED working with you two – thanks for being SO much fun!

. . . first word that comes to mind when I look at the images from this just because session from a few weeks ago. I had a wonderful time with this lovely woman and wish I could describe the view of the water from her home; living in the top of a lighthouse would be about the only way to make it better! And I have to mention that the artwork behind her was a gift from the artist…her SON-IN-LAW!
Of course I love all of my wee little subjects, but it is a nice treat, from time to time to photograph adults who want to mark a special time in their lives!
