. . . beginning Wednesday, February 25 and returning on Tuesday, March 3.  We’re headed to warm, sunny weather and we can’t get there soon enough   And while I just received some photos of my friend Werner’s recent trip to Wakatobi, as much as I would love to say that’s where we’re headed, in fact, we’re not even leaving the east coast.  I do know we’ll get back there someday though! (hey Henrik, don’t you guys need me to go over and take some pictures of something?).  I’ll be leaving my computer behind (wow, did I just say that?), and likely just traveling with the point and shoot camera.  We are really looking forward to some fun family time together, and for my dive friends who still read the blog, yes, I’m packing the sunscreen

. . . this little guy has to be one of the most easy-going newborns I have ever encountered.  While he was a “few” weeks older than the newborns that I frequently photograph, he was still so easy to work with, and his bright-eyed expressions have made it tough for me to narrow down his family’s gallery!  The image with Mom and his 2 older siblings is one of my favorites from their session, and most importantly, I hope it makes HER mom happy   I was a bit intimidated when I first walked into their home because there is a BEAUTIFUL display of images, mostly black and whites, that were taken by the photographer in the family…grandma!  I want to be sure that I live up to the standards she set!
I can’t wait for you to see your entire gallery!

. . . I was lucky enough to photograph this family during our unseasonably warm spell, a couple of weeks ago and it was GREAT.  So nice to be outside, so nice to let the fresh air in, and best of all I we didn’t have to bundle this gorgeous momma-to-be up, which would have resulted in missing out on her beautiful bump!  I had a great time with this family, and can’t wait for them to see their entire gallery.  I know this little guy can’t WAIT to be a big brother and I can’t wait to meet his little sibling.  (oh, and to the Dad-to-be, I am sorry you are not represented here…lots of great shots of you too but I want to get something posted to beat baby’s arrival)

. . . apparently, in some cases they do.  I guess it’s like the bottom of an ice cream cone, a page-turner of a book, or the idea that your child will be contained in their crib at night indefinitely…nope…the end does come (and in the case of the latter, so goes your sleep).  And so it is true for my favorite shopping spot in Annapolis…Sitting Pretty is closing at the end of March.  The only silver lining in this very dark storm cloud is that Emily is marking everything down, so it’s a great time to save on great clothes, but I will miss the store and know John will too.  Nothing says “I love my wife” like those beautiful yellow and pink boxes under the tree and how easy for him to go in and know he would come home with a home run.

I know I am not alone in saying that this is disappointing and said, and I’m sure we all know that Annapolis will drop a notch (or few) on the style scale as a result.  Em, you’re the best and we miss you already!  (but I will be part of the stampede to save on spring

. . . Dear Mommy of these 2 beautiful girls,

I think you can see from these first few images, that things went well with our shoot   Please do not fret about whether the girls were “good” or not, because they are wonderful and their only job is to be who they are, and let me take it all in from a few feet away.  Unfortunately, for you, as was the case when we shot last summer, you are going to have your work cut out for you deciding favorites because there are just way. too. many.  I am having enough trouble just sorting to get your gallery together, I love this pair, and these little people don’t even belong to me.  More, (MANY) more, to come when you see your gallery.

Dear Daddy of these three darlings,

I don’t have to tell you that your wife is hilarious, and I am so sorry that you have been subjected to her tap tap tapping to refresh her blackberry to check the blog.  The tapping can now stop.  Of course, that will only mean she will keep tapping waiting for her “your gallery is ready email.”  I am also sorry that you missed our shoot, but as you were taking care of very important business, we will give you a pass.  I hope you enjoy these images, and know for certain that you will love the entire gallery when it’s ready to see.

. . . to Mac & Colin’s mommy for the beautiful and yummy treats!  Wow – what a surprise when I went to the mail to find a HUGE box of the most unbelievably good cookies   I can’t think of a better combination than  wonderful person + great baker + incredibly artistic + generous friend….all of that certainly adds up to a very lucky Crowder clan.  Now, I must confess that AFTER I took this photograph I realized that there was an additional little cute package of smaller cookies which were so short-lived in their lifespan there was no use in getting the camera back out.  Aimee, please tell the boys that we LOOOVE our Valentine’s Day goodies!  I had no idea you were sending us such a treat!

. . . If you haven’t entered yet, you still have a little time.  Zachary’s Jewelers is again hosting the Love Letter Contest, which last year drew huge crowds and LOTS of mail, with folks expressing their dreamiest thoughts about someone they love.  I was fortunate enough to be part of the fun, and photographed the runner up couple during a “just because” session in downtown Annapolis.  If you haven’t entered, you still have a little time…and with $10,000 in DIAMONDS at stake (did someone say diamonds?), along with oodles of other fabulous prizes…how can you not enter?

. . . So, I admit it.  I did what I tell every parent not to do during one of our portrait sessions.  I couldn’t help myself, and I said those words which became music to her ears….”honey, if you sit on that chair for mommy, just for a minute, and let me take your picture, I will…give…you…a….lolli”

Does that make me a terrible mother?  I hope not, and hey, she got a treat out of the whole deal.  You would think that trying to take her picture without the bribe was cruel and unusual punishment if you could see her in action, but I suppose in this case…all’s well that end’s well….we both got what we wanted out and it was over in about 42 seconds (her timeline not mine).

Can you tell that today is organize the office day?  Just a little bit of procrastinating going on over here…but a cute storyboard complete with red lolli’d lips and her beautiful smile
