A public service announcement, from a very cute toddler with a pink cast….

annapolis child photographerDear playground enthusiast, please pass this on to whomever takes you to the playground…

I LOOOOVE to swing, and climb and slide…wwwhhhhhheeeeeeee!  Sometimes I get to slide by myself, with someone holding my hand, but much of the time, I ride on a grown-up’s lap (because they think it’s actually safer that way).  Um.  WRONG!  A couple of weeks ago, I was doing exactly that, when all of a sudden, the rubber on the sole of my shoe caught the edge of the slide and YIKES, my little ankle stopped but the rest of us kept going and you can imagine how bad this HURT!  Lots and lots and lots of tears, and eventually we went to the ER.  (I will say that the Pediatric ER at AAMC is fan-tabulous so if you should happen to find yourself in an ER this is DEF the one to choose….but I digress).  So after watching a little Nick Jr, and being looked after by some wonderful nurses and docs, Mommy and I were wheeled down for X-rays of my legs and sure enough, the left one was fractured (this is a fancy word for broken for you Fancy Nancy fans).  Apparently, the spiral fracture I have is a VERY common result of sitting on a grown-up’s lap while sliding.  I’m not one for statistics (and quite frankly, neither is mommy) but THIS article she read, says it happens to a LOT of children my age.  I’ve tried to argue the point that wearing shoes causes more harm than good, but I don’t think I’m getting very far with that.  Personally, I’d rather just be barefoot all the time, but she’s not buying it.  I hope I’ve saved just one of you (and your limbs) from this injury…and can you believe swimsuit season is just right around the corner?  You’ll see in the photo though, that my cast has in no way impacted my ability to play firefly fairy princess with my sister – she’s just about to put my wings on me :)

Happy Mother’s Day!

Wishing you all a beautiful and happy Mother’s Day! (and hopes that maybe, just maybe, you get to sleep in)

aaaaahhhhhh summer | maryland family photographer

I’ll be a bit brief with my words (because right now you’re probably actually in shock that there is a post on this blog), but as I’m watching the snow fall, I immediately thought of this beautiful session in Severna Park from last summer.  The love and dynamic energy of this family was obvious from the moment I saw them interacting and hope that you see their connection and affection for each other in their images.  Lots of fun things to come this year at Heather Crowder Photography, so watch this space (and more)….we promise to be posting and then some!  Happy snow, these days will return before we know it!

well hello world!

annapolis photographer . . . let me take a minute to introduce myself!  I have now been here for two months, which no one can quite believe, especially my mommy.  she also never knew that she could love anyone as much as my big sister, and never guessed how much my big sister would love me, right from day 1, but I have proven that both are very possible.  As much as she says she wants me to stay teeny weeny and not change a bit, I know she’s excited to see me grow and who I will become.  (And I’m not quite sure the peach fuzz on my back is going to be so endearing when I’m 12.)  I have a strong resemblance to my daddy’s daddy, and already have mastered raising one eyebrow so I frequently look quite serious.  I have a birthmark on my foot that looks like a heart which is a daily reminder to all how much I’m loved.  I’m chunking up by the day which is great except for the fact that my thighs get squished on a regular basis, and I’m not 100% certain how I feel about that yet.  I’m a really good sleeper (for which my mommy is grateful) but have the uncanny ability to be hungry approximately 5 minutes before it’s time to take my sissy to school or pick her up, go figure. Maybe sleeping longer at night will mean that we won’t have to watch anymore of those ridiculous reality tv shows on bravo in the middle of the night, but I will say I am a bit partial to tabitha takes over.

I’m a very easy-going little baby, which was particularly helpful when moving mommy’s studio; I was part of moving day, trips to City Hall and real estate offices, looking at new spaces, and packing things up, all before I was 3 weeks old!  I have already completely and totally wrapped my daddy around my tiny finger which I think is great because everyone though I was a boy and he’s essentially had to change his dream of seeing me on the football field to visions of pink and green.  Come to think of it, the only person who thought I was a girl was my big sister – I guess we had a connection while I was still in the womb :-)   And speaking of womb, mommy did say to let her clients from 2010, who saw firsthand how she REALLY felt about being pregnant, that I was completely and totally worth every minute of it :-)

I hate to be brief, but mommy needs the computer back – she is still digging out from a crazy fall (apparently this photo gig keeps her pretty busy) and while she’s doing her best to take some time “off” to play with me, anyone that knows her knows she’s not very good at taking time off.  Totally fine with me though, a girl has to nap, right?

happy monday.

annapolis photographer . . . some images just make me really happy.  This is one of them.  Burberry also makes me really happy.  So do clients that I get to see year after year, and being able to see their families grow.  Thank you to this family for making the trip all the way to Annapolis to spend the morning with me :-)

I’m sharing my space…

annapolis photographer . . . here on the blog!  As much as I love to sit down at the computer and put my thoughts out there into cyberspace, in many cases, time (or lack-thereof) gets the best of me.  There are SO many things I want to share here, in addition to session images and other fun stuff, but alas, I just can’t always make that happen.  My shooting schedule these days beyond crazy and we aren’t even full-swing into fall yet!  Soooo…I am turning over the keys to the blog (or rather just making a duplicate set) to Laura, so that she can help keep things up to date, and introduce some new things to all of our readers in blogland. I know you will love her :-)

I posted a photo of her a few weeks ago, taken back in the summer, but here’s another so all of our recent clients can put her smiling face with her voice.  Oh, and because I am completely obsessed with our custom frame vendor, I had to incorporate that too :-)

shiny happy people | annapolis children’s photographer

annapolis photographer . . . there was much giggling, jumping on furniture and running amok during this session.  You’d never know that “someone” wasn’t happy when we first started, and I’ll never tell who ;-)

annapolis photographer . . . slowly catching up on the blog . . . lots to post so I’ll be less wordy than usual.  Besides, with a pair like this, how many different ways can you say the word CUTE?  Thanks to both of them (and their Mom) for coming to play with me :-)
