HCP on Fox News!

annapolis Photographer . . . “What’s Great about America,” John Stossel’s first documentary to air on the Fox News Channel, premiered this past Saturday and Sunday, in celebration of the July 4th holiday.  KT McFarland, Fox News Contributor, was interviewed for the program, and I was asked if an image I had taken of she and her daughter, could be included in the program.  Of course I said YES!  I met the McFarlands during USNA Commissioning Week in 2007, when I photographed their family.  Regardless where you stand on the issues politically, it’s hard to deny that we live in the greatest Country in the world, and Stossel’s show reminds us of that in so many ways.  I am thankful to have been born in the USA, to have been given the gift of opportunity to chase my dreams, and to know the freedoms that so many around the world don’t know.  It’s true that America might not be perfect, but I traveled the world for many years and can tell you that I have yet to find a place where the grass is greener than my own backyard (its current status of being nearly dead from the heat not withstanding).  I love this Country.  I am proud of my grandparents who became US citizens after emigrating from Europe in search of opportunity, and am grateful for all of the men and women serving in our military to protect our freedoms – including the beautiful young woman pictured below.
I hope everyone had a happy and safe July 4th – we had a ball :-)

happy birthday! happy spring! happy everything!

annapolis Photographer . . . yesterday was a beautiful day here…actually the past few days have been beautiful here.  Such a nice change from all of the dreary winter weather we had become so accustomed too.  Yesterday was a particularly beautiful day because my Gran celebrated her 90th birthday.  As in ninetieth.  As in NINETIETH!  If you know Gran, you are not at all surprised :-)   My favorite part of celebrating with her was watching her with Caroline – the joy in their eyes and their love for each other is palpable.  I wonder, when CG gets older, if she’ll remember the day?  Will she remember endless pushes on the rope swing in Grandpop’s back yard?  Will she remember all of the people that she met, who know HER all too well from the stories Gran tells?  Will she remember the “oops I stuck my finger in the cake, I guess now I’ll have to eat this icing on it” moment?  I can’t wait to celebrate Gran’s 100th birthday, and we have assured her that we will let Willard Scott know.

thank you mother nature | family photographer

annapolis Photographer . . . for finally giving us a break in the RAIN!  This family traveled from Howard County to Annapolis for their session, and if I’m not mistaken, three times is a charm because that’s how many reschedules we had!  The weather was PERFECT on the day that they were here, and I would like to thank downtown Annapolis for providing what is always the perfect backdrop for my portrait sessions :-)

Happy Weekend!

how cute are they? | annapolis photographer

annapolis Photographer . . . Each of these kiddos has a charming and outgoing personality, and I only wish I could share my nicknames for each of them . . . but they know what they are ;-)   I also wish that I could post some of the family images, just to share with you their fantastic PORCH, which upon arrival, I quickly decided was Coastal-Living-Cover-worthy.  ( Have I mentioned how much I love to shoot in downtown Annapolis?) But, since I don’t know which of their beautiful pictures will be used for their holiday card, I’ll keep them to myself and perhaps share later this winter when I’m itching to post something to the blog during winter doldrums.  Until then, enjoy these :-)   Maximum cuteage.  Yes, I made that word up.

Bachelor Blowout!

annapolis Photographer . . . rarely do I have to stand on something to photograph my subjects – usually I’m doing my best to get down to their level.  Not the case however, with Drew McCarl, who represents Maryland in Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Bachelor Blow-out 2009.  At 6′5″ it was obvious I needed a ladder, not just a step-stool, so I finally just asked him to sit down :-)   He is a cutie isn’t he?  To have a chat with him, you’d realize that he’s as humble and down-to-earth as they come.  Just one more reason for his email box to runneth over…

Here’s a link to the article in this evening’s Capital newspaper

annapolis Photographer . . . you can see that one of these little guys was NOT a fan of the beach, but I am sure am!  Portrait sessions at the beach like this one, with a beautifully dressed, happy and loving family make me SO happy!  Ok, back to work…and more cute faces from holiday short & sweets coming soon…
